For Anxiety:
Also referred to as Tulsi, this plant is actually considered to be sacred by a lot of people in India. As such, it can be found growing in temple gardens, where the rich fragrance opens respiratory passages and some say it also helps the spirit soar.
The key compounds in holy basil, including eugenol and caryophyllene, are the same as the ones found in oregano. Holy basil also possesses the anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic actions typical of the oregano family. Plus, it’s been shown to significantly lower a couple of measures of stress in generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) patients. Holy basil can be taken in capsule, tea and in liquid forms. The suggested dosage is 600-700 mg twice daily, before meals. Make sure to allow 2-4 weeks for optimal results.
