Beans — Heart Health
According to Georgia-based nutritionist, Dr. Keith Kantor, a half-cup of beans on a daily basis will keep your heart in optimal shape. The soluble fiber found in beans, as Kantor states, is the main reason why they’re beneficial for your heart. He then added that the fiber binds to cholesterol and keeps it from being absorbed in the gut and building up to unhealthy levels.
All you need to do is add some black, kidney, lima, navy, pinto or white beans to your next meal for that extra dose of soluble fiber, in addition to folate, magnesium, calcium, omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin B-Complex — all essential nutrients to maintain a proper heart health.
